position Junior Textile Designer
birthplace Whangarei, NZ
how I got here In 2006 I completed a Bachelor of Textile Design in Wellington, NZ. Whilst studying, I worked part time at the Design Reference Library where I was first exposed to Mokum's product. I loved their textiles and could see my style of design fitting alongside some of the product. Once my degree finished I relocated to my home town Auckland, where I worked in an interior textile showroom for almost two years. During that time I released a small range of my own printed textiles which were showcased in a number of magazines and helped me get valuable exposure within New Zealand. My aim was always to be a textile designer in the interiors industry, which I realised would be difficult because of the niche market. In 2008 I moved to Melbourne looking for design work. However when I heard Mokum (who I knew to be a leading design company), needed a junior designer in Sydney, I knew I had to go for it.
some things I like Tim Walker's photography, Nars cosmetics, full skirts, geometric prints, William Morris fabrics, Lindt chocolate balls, fejoas, vintage bags, New Zealand's coastal beaches, Karen Walker jewelry, Wii fit, Sydney's markets, Katie Lockhart's styling.
